I know it has been discussed here before, but I thought I would share my information for replacing the floor shifter **** in the 2007.

I understand the 2004 to 2006 installation or rather swap is quite different and, more complicated.

The swap for the 2007 / 2008 floor shifter is quite simple.

Once I had seen that a bit nicer floor shift **** / handle was available I researched a bit. I found that the Mark LT shifter handle was a leather wrapped handle. I found out it is either available in Black or, Pebble.


FORD P/N: 5L3Z-7213-U. Handle Assembly.
List: $74.28.
Paid: $59.61 including tax.

I used a small flat-blade screwdriver to remove the button.
I started at the bottom and gently pulled the button away from the handle assembly.




View from the front of the handle assembly with the push button removed.
There is a T-15 Torx screw that you can see.
Remove this screw.
Gently lift the handle assembly up and away from the shaft assembly.




Old handle assembly removed.





Taking the new handle assembly, simply slip it over the shaft assembly until the bottom is flush.
Install the T-15 Torx screw.
Install the push button.
Enjoy.

This should be a stickied somewhere. Such a simple little mod to do to improve a pretty obvious part in the cab.

I have the pretty much same truck and interior, only mine is a 2004. The leather looks great on your truck! As opposed to the worn gray grip, mine is worn in the same way and I think I might try this. My only question is: will this handle also work with a 2004? I'm pretty sure that the Mark LT wasn't made until 06, and I also know that there is a difference between shift handles (for some reason) between 04-06 and 07-08.

Might you be able to shed some light on this?

Looks great by the way, I like how clean you keep your Lariat. Shows pride!

There is a difference in installation technique.
I believe I have also read that some modification to the shift handle itself needs to be accomplished. I had seen this in one of the many searches I have done on the forums about this topic.

I did not pay too close of attention as it did not apply to my scenario.

I did see this thread yesterday and saved it with a few others that were in some way applicable.

Read down the thread to see if it may be applicable to you.

Just did this to my 2007 Lariat. Parts were about $80 shipped but I went through my dealer just to make it easier on me. Install was simple as simple as mentioned. Took me about 5 minutes but 3 minutes was spent finding the correct bit for the small screw.
