By the way if anyone is wanting a 4r100 the junkyard below me is selling one with 80k on it for 350 bucks without the transfer case.

As far as being thorough and complete in these write ups you spend so much time on I would definately call them quality work. I wish I had a 4v to back with that tranny lol

Excellent write up came in very handy with my tranny swap...one tip I have for anyone doing this is to remove the trans mount crossmember when getting at the bolts for the transfer case disconnect, it is a huge time and frustration saver. For the reinstall I put crossmember back to support the tranny while I aligned the transfer case. Then I got the easy bolts in place and tightened and then removed the cross member again to get those top 2. For me it was very much worth the removal rather than fighting to get wrenches up there. Thanks again for the write up!

Great write up. I was wondering how much trouble it is to replace the transmission mount and came across this thread. Excellent info, just hope I never need to know it!

I'm in the process of removing a transmission from a 2000 F150, 5.4L 4X4. I've never done anything like this before, but this right-up have been very helpful. I'm to the point where I needed longer extensions for the tranny bolts to the engine, the top two to be specific. I bought a 24" and a 12" to be safe. With a swivel on the 13mm socket, I should be able to reach right up there like a boss.

Line #13, where the OP talks about draining the transmission. I thought the only way to drain was to remove the pan? I did it this way, but can I drain it by taking out that one bolt through the rubber gasket hole??

Yeah so what is the procedure for reinstall?
1. just reverse this whole process?

I already stumbled through the entire removal without help but thought i better know if theres any special steps to do before installing.

like i know to seat TC all way in until hub is cleared bellhousing by 1/8 inch or so

2. . how much if any fluid is poured into TC and tranny before install or is it all put in after install through dipstick?

3. is there supposed to be 2 dowel pins on engine to line up tranny?
mine has one on engine and on on tranny....maybe it slipped out of engine , stuck in tranny?
im exchanging this broke tranny for rebuilt one today and hopefully installing tomorow
