A question on fluid- I have a 2005 Lariat 4x4 (5.4L 3V). The trans stick says use Mercon V. Years ago I did a fluid change on my 2001.5 Passat. That "sealed" transmission was very picky about fluid. I had a choice between Pentosin (expensive) and Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle ATF. This is a Synthetic Blend fluid. Cheaper than the Pentosin, it was still very expensive and I could not find it locally. I still have 4 quarts sitting on my shelf and no longer own the old Passat.

The bottle says it meets a number of GM, Chrysler, and Allison transmission specification, as well as Ford Mercon and Mercon V. I'm assuming this will be ok in my 4R75E?

Hi all,
Noob here, about to change the filter and fluid on my 2000. A big THANK YOU for all the info for this procedure. I picked up a small toy hauler and want to be sure the tranny is serviced. Lariet with off road and towing package should help.

Thankfully it has the TC drain plug . I was researching installing a drain plug in the pan and found these OEM style pans on Amazon with drain plugs, $28 shipped. Dorman makes these with the magnet nest.

I will post results after the install.
