How To: Spark plug change-2004-2008 5.4 3V V8

Awe, only one? I almost wish it was more so you could have really seen the value of the lisle. Lol! Glad the tool worked. It's nice to see that M1911's generosity has helped three others so far....keep it rolling...

About to tackel my plugs in my 2005 fx4 it has 95k on it and the only thing I'm a little nervous about is if one breaks it dropping down into the cylinder had this happened to anyone and how many miles did your tricks have on them when you swapped plugs?

Mine had 70k on it. If the plugs do break they will not fall into the cylinder because the plug is tapered under the threads. That is why the lisle can work like it does. The lisle actually pushes on it first, then the second step pulls it out.

Just make sure you blow out the area with a compressor and rig up a shop vac to vacuum out any porcelain chips. 85k miles, broke 7/8. See my pic on pg 17 of this post.

Many thanks!
Thanks to your write-up, I got my plugs changed this weekend. I bought a Lisle tool because if I hadn't, I would have needed one. This is the first time in my life I have ever purchased a tool with the hopes of never using it, but thanks to you, I did not need it. All 8 came out without breaking. I removed 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 with just a ratchet, but I used a pneumatic ratchet for 4 and 8 with the compressor turned down to the lowest PSI that would still turn it. I feel that I need to point out that I am a guy whose mechanic skills are minimal at best. I did enjoy a nice celebratory Anderson Valley amber ale after this personal victory, and now I have an unused Lisle tool, should anyone need it.
