MAF will detect extra air flow and the O2s will tell the computer to richen things up thru short term fuel trims.

My point exactly. So really all you will get with the Gotts mod and silencer removal is more power, but at the cost of poorer fuel economy?? I want to hear from someone who has done this and his MPG numbers before and after.

Default Did mine today

Removed the plastic piece and once I removed the airbox, it just came right off with a brisk pull. All-in-all, within 15 minutes and my tools were put away and it was done. Mine's a 2010, so, newer trucks must be the easiest.

I did notice a slight, but, definite better throttle response. And I like the sound a lot.

OK, Sarge, but how's your MPG before and after? I just put in a K&N air filter, but have not done anything else to it.

Well, I just removed it this weekend, so, I'll have to drive around a couple hundred miles to see if it changes. I would think with less air restriction it would actually increase, if anything. It's likely not going to be enough to really matter much. I'll report back on the mileage ... just filled the tank up yesterday.

Default Reporting back in

Well, it looks as though the mileage is really showing no difference from just removing the snorkel. I just thought about this. Doh!

I have never disconnected the negative side of the battery or pulled the fuse which resets the ECM to re-learn any additional airflow changes. I feel like a big dumb nut. So, I'm going out to do that now and I'll be back after I can run through a few more tanks of gas. Dang-it! Sorry folks.

I got about .9 mpg better on my first tank of gas(+ gotts mod). I didn't really keep my foot out of it b/c it sounds real good. This tank I've been taking it pretty easy since the newness has worn off a little so i'm expecting maybe 1.5 mpg increase. Its not huge, but hey, this is a damn near free upgrade and every little bit helps!

Default Getting there!

I resat the computer by disconnecting/reconnecting the negative battery lead. After running a couple through of tanks of gas, I'm getting about 1.1 mpg city and 1.3 highway. I only removed the snorkel and have done no other mods to the truck.
