Still have the valve body off? Inspect the OD servo very carefully. I'm still betting it's the retaining clip. Make sure the servo is still engaged in the OD band.

I put my truck in 4hi last night just to keep things moving. Also went into 4lo for a bit. Dash lights work like they're supposed to. Ok so I try to put it back in 2hi and it won't go. 4hi light stays on. It'll go into 4lo and back to 4hi no problem but not 2hi. Tapped on tcase motor with a hammer, nothing. Truck stills puts power to all four wheels when switch is in 2hi (floored it on a gravel road).
What activates the dash light? The tcase motor or the iwe solenoid? If the tcase motor is shifting properly why do I still get power to all four wheels? Does the solenoid have to work before the tcase motor will shift??
Sorry for all the questions just need a bit of help here. Thanks in advance guys.

UPDATE: I got a new IWE solenoid and installed it. No difference. I have vacuum coming from the engine but no vac after the solenoid. So am I not getting power to the solenoid?? I checked all the fuses....

Sorry don't know what to do next...

The TCM position controls the dash light.

I know this sounds weird, but I've seen it work for others: apply your parking brake and change the dash switch through the ranges. Have the truck in neutral with your foot on the service brake.

If you can't get it into 2 high, at least get it back into 4 high and then try the above, including the parking brake, in drive and reverse to try to get it back in 2 high.

Also check the operation of the 4x4 relay in the small black box just in front of the coolant reservoir on the driver side fender.

OK I'll try that.

As far as the relays, if it switches back and forth from 4hi to 4lo and back, the relays should be working properly. The way I understand it is one relay controls clockwise rotation and the other, counterclockwise. So its going both ways, just not all the way to 2hi. Its as tho there's a bad spot in the motor and it won't go any farther. I sure hope that's the problem. If not I don't know what else to do...

I do have a new motor ordered - Dorman part #600-911 from Amazon - Hopefully that fixes my problem.

Did all the above and more...still stays in 4hi or 4lo.

Check your TC fluid for proper level and condition. There is a clutch for the forward drive shaft. It's magnetic with a mechanical lock up. It needs fluid to operate properly.

So you think that would affect the shifting? is there a sensor that wouldn't let it shift if the fluid was low? Why did it shift into 4hi in the first place if this is the case?

Thanks for all the input, keep it coming. I appreciate it.

The clutch may not function correctly out could be damaged from low fluid level or extremely dirty fluid.

Well i hope that's not the case. a tcase motor would definitely be easier!

Will update with results. Thanks again.

Tcase is full of fluid. What should the fluid look like? This stuff is quite thin and dark brown or purple. Some ran out when I removed the fill plug, is how I know. Its not milky or anything tho....
