Ok, fair enough.

I think we're talking different 'reverse triggers' . Your head unit will have a wire that needs to be triggered in order to for it to switch to the reverse camera input. You were suggesting to connect that wire to the black/pink wire behind the kick plate. All I was saying is that you can connect that wire from your head unit to the Dark Green/Yellow wire in the harness behind your head unit and not have to run it to the kick panel

Ok, thanks. I'll check them out.

Can't wait for the camera to arrive. The head unit has already been installed and tested in reverse. Just needs a camera!

On my unit, just grounding the Parking Brake wire permanently is enough to allow video at any time. I know some other units require a certain sequence, so I'm glad mine doesn't. But in any event, that doesn't affect the reverse camera, as that works whether video is allowed or not, at least in my unit.

It is +12V when the gear shift is in reverse, and open otherwise. I can't speak for other head units, but that's what my unit needed to switch to the rear camera view.

I'm installing.one.tomorrow. my camera came.with a black and red wire attached to the connector but also has a red wire.coming.off the video plug that would go into.my deck. I'm kinda confused after reading all.of this. Will my deck power the.camera and all I need to do is ground.it. or will I need to plug it into my reverse lights power as well as everything else? I have ran all the wires already but haven't spliced/hooked up any wires yet, just looking for woke clarification. Thanks

Your camera needs 12V input power and puts out video to your deck. How you power it depends on how you want it to function. If you only need it on during reverse, then you could just connect the red power wire to your reverse light power, and the black wire to ground. If you want the camera on all the time the truck is on, then you need to find accessory power somewhere. Some decks have a power output to power accessories and you could power it from there. If your truck has the tow package and you have the tow relay, you can get power from the 7 pin tow connector.

The yellow video connector would just hook up to the rear camera input on your deck. Your deck will likely have a 'reverse trigger' input that you will also have to connect to the reverse light so that it will switch to the camera input when in reverse. The earlier posts in this thread will tell you which wire to connect to.

Hope that helps.

I'm curious. I understand you are running the wiring through the channel of the bottom door panels, but how do you get it out of the cab? The wall behind the rear seats, drill through the wall? Or what?sorry Idk if you've answered it before. Lol
