Installing a backup Camera
Hi all,
Just finished my installation of an Alpine BU-cam to my Alpine INA-W910 DVD Navigation Receiver. Used the proprietary "direct" connection w/ a trigger wire connected to my left reverse light. The trigger works, when I put the truck into reverse the radio display switches to the reverse view like it's supposed to. However. The radio display flashes off for just a second whenever I step on the brake pedal or switch on the turn signal. It's as if a brief pulse of power hits the back-up light causing the camera to switch on momentarily. Does this make any sense? Is there something I can do to trouble-shoot or correct this?
Regards,
Mike

I solved my problem btw. Ford uses a data managed reverse signal (so-called can-bus system) which apparently does send brief voltage pulses during various operations. When I reconnected my reverse wire to the PAC C2R-FRD1 Ford Radio Replace Interface instead of my back-up light, the problem was resolved.

just installed mine today. Wired through the cab by feet through that rubber harness piece. All the way to the license plate however the camera just said the words about the image might be reversed but only showed a black screen. I hooked up the black wire from the camera to the black wire from my tailight but i guess i actually have to ground it with a screw?? The red wire is hooked up to the reverse light coloured wire & my yellow video wire is hooked up to the back of my head unit (pioneer avhp4400)
By what i have read it looks like i need to hook up that reverse wire from the back of my head unit to that small reverse box by my hood latch.

The Alpine's can use either a traditional RCA type connection or their proprietary "direct" connection. I used the direct connection, where the camera has one connection to the back of the HU and another to the reverse circuit. The ground is integral to the direct connector.

Got it all hooked up. I can see the camera working fine if i put my head unit on the AV input, so i know it works. But the image doesn't show up when i put it into reverse. It switches the screen black and just says "image may appear reversed". What do i need to do? I played with the polarity settings and that didn't do it.
