Would I get pulled over for having my break light too dark if I did this? Cops in my area are mad dicks (no offence to any cops here) but it's a small town area with not a lot going on so they'll get you for almost any traffic violation. Like is it illegal to do this to my truck or nah?

If its too dark you will obviously draw attention to yourself buts its not just about cops. Its about people being able to see when you hit the brakes as well. Best bet is do a couple even light coats and see how dark they look once dried. Now keep in mind the darkness will fade a little over time even if you clear them. So if you do a couple coats and it looks perfect, id do 1 more light coat then clear. Ive smoked the tail on my last 2 trucks as wells a few buddies tails and generally do 3-4 light coats of night shade. What I do is wet sand with 1000 grit, then clean the tails with rubbing alcohol. Once it dries put a nice even base and let dry for 10min, then repeat previous step until desired darkness. After the last coat let dry for 20-30min then lightly wet sand with 1000 grit. Clean with rubbing alcohol, let dry, then apply clear coat. I generally do 4-5 even coats of clear waiting 10-15min in-between each coat.

What I ude
1000 grit wet or dry sand paper
Rubbing alcohol
VHT night shade
Dupli color clear coat (blue/white) can.

Black paint with thinner then cleared & polished. I won't do it to my truck though.

A better shot in direct sunlight. It wasn't nearly as dark as it looked in the pictures. 10 years, no tickets, no fender benders. Normal bulbs.
