Default X4 or the Livewire TS??

I am completely new to the tuners, and trying to learn as much as possible about them. I think i will be going with 5 Star, i hear nothing but great news about them. When i called they told me i could get a great display touch screen and the tunes for about 700. I havent ordered yet, but now im seeing a tuner that people are calling the X4, and with the same type tunes is about $450. Is the fancy touch screen all im gaining with the Livewire TS, or is there way more to it for that much of a price increase?

No difference except the touch screen with gauges you can monitor. I have the x4 and it certainly does what it was designed to do.

arite thanks. Can you leave the X4 plugged in and switch it while on the road? i think you can with the TS?? Or is it just to plug in temporarily to swap tunes.

You can't do that with either, only diesels can be changed on the fly. You can leave both hooked up, the TS requires it to show the gauges on screen, as for the x4 you only leave it connected to data log, It has digital readouts if you like but the screen is way to small to be of use.

The extra gauges are fun to watch for about 1 day and then you'll just drive again. Save the money by getting the X4.

If you are looking to monitor your gauges 24/7, the the Livewire is a much better unit to do that with ( Although obviously more $ ) but if you don't need to and don't care about that, the X4 will do the exact same job for good bit less $.

Doesn't yhe livewire also have features like peak rpm and other params as well as performance testing features like 0-60, 1/4 mile and braking measurements?

yea true, the TS does have that. so does the TS switch to other tunes any faster than the X4, or are you looking at the same amount of time to switch anyways?

Had the X4 first...after getting a TT to tow,,,went with the Livewire TS. The gauges let me know what is going on and downloads are pretty quick.

If you want to get a tuner to just monitor gauges, don't spend $400. Buy a Bluetooth OBD II controller off eBay for $30 and get the Torque Pro app for your phone for $5. You can view everything in real time and even read / clear codes.
