I love my 5.0 so far. Not only that I think the engine has a lot more to give then what comes stock.

I love mine, i think it has a lot power, great for towing. But... I have this light tick noise, can hear most on the passenger side, not coming from top of engine. I have read some posts on here and it is not the same noise and it is not the same problem as with the mustangs. Does anyone else notice this with their 5.0??

I drove both. Did notice the low end acceleration of the ecoboost (nice!). But was drawn to the 5.0 by its own great acceleration (it has a sweet spot that truly puts a smile on my face); its throaty growl (hard to resist); and the fact it saved me $1000 here in Canada. Would I buy it again? Right now, absolutely. I haven't looked back, and I kind of feel sorry for the guys who are flippin' trucks so soon to see how green the grass can be. I think it's just a different shade of green.
I won't lie, I'd love my 5.0 to have the ecoboost's torque available at launch and while towing, but for my $1000 it would need much better fuel economy to really overcome the 5.0's already impressive abilities.

Sometimes I wish I got the EB. Most of the time I love my 5.0, sounds great, tons of power, respectable MPG and it was 1000$ less. I mean seriously the size and sound of the stock exhaust just made me grin from ear to ear the first time I crawled under the truck. I actually went WOT the other day (I've had it a month an it was the first time) the thing is a f*%King 6000lbs rocket!!!!!!!!!

I only have 900 miles on my 5.0, but yes. I like the EcoBoost, but this truck was the perfect all around set up for me, and I just enjoy having a v8. No regrets.

I wanted a Eco Boost, but the dealers in my area ordered them where the ones I looked at sticker ed over 40 grand. I did not want to spend that kind of money. I purchased a 38 grand truck for 32 with most of the options that I wanted. I paid 200 over what the dealer did because it sat on the lot for 6 months prior to my purchase. I settled for the 5.0 and don't regret it. I love the smooth ride, and it's much easier to maneuver than my 05 Titan was. I can get 21.5 on the highway with 4 people cruising about between 75 and 80 and average about 14 in the city. My spouse ended up buying and 10 Taurus SHO a week after I got my truck. We spent too much time on the lot waiting to get the closing room. It doesn't do much better than the truck as mileage goes, but it hard to keep your foot out of it. It's also decked to the gills, and I wish I could have afforded the bells and whistles it has.
I'd buy the 5.0 again, but I'd opt for the FX4 instead of an XLT. I have about 3,400 miles on it and bought it in May. My B-day gift to me..

Hell yes. Incredible sound combined with great power. The EB is a phenomenal engineering achievement, but the slight edge it has in power isn't enough to overcome it's vanilla demeanor/sound for my personal taste. IMHO Ford may have swayed some of us 5 liter guys into the EB camp had they had louder turbos on the EB. It may sound a bit immature to some, but the sound of turbos spooling up is pretty damn cool. The stock EB was just too conservative for my personal taste.

EDIT: Had the stock EB had more of a difference in power over the 5 liter I could have lived with the EB despite it's relatively benign sound. 30-50lbs of low-end torque advantage still isn't enough IMHO.
