Will I be disapointed with the V6??
I'm looking to finally pull the trigger on an 11 f150 in the next few months. I can't decide on the 6 or 8 motor. I originally was looking to get a stripped down 6cyl super cab. But I don't want to be disappointed if I don't get te 5.0. The truck won't ever be used for towing a boat or anything it's basically just a day to day drive to work drive home. So what factored into your decision guys?

I use a 6.2L to get to and from work. I test drove all the motors the 6.2L felt the best and most natural IMO. But if fuel economy is a concern 3.7 or 3.5 eco would suit you better. I get 9 city and 13 hwy with mine but I also have 4:10 gears and 35" tires

I think the 3.7 is under-appreciated. For the longest time, the best engines available were a 305 hp Nissan, 315 hp Chevy, and 265 hp Ford. The 3.7 is rated right there with the best v8's from a couple of years ago, but gets phenomenal mileage.

I only haul my raptor in the back of my truck and I drive an hour and a half each way for work. I got the ecoboost because it's the best of both worlds, more power and torque than anything except the 6.2, and even then it's not by much. Also, it has the best fuel economy with the exception of the 3.7 and again it's not by much. I've got the supercab 4x4 and averaged 24.5 mpg driving through the rocky mountains.
You'll get biased opinions from everyone depending on what they bought so honestly you have to drive each of them to figure out what you like. It was mentioned in another thread to someone to rent each of the engines for a day of regular driving and see what you like best

The 3.7 is a cool engine, and will probably respond nicely to mods if you are a little hungry for more power. I thought it was a hoot to drive as it revs to a million in truck rpms. I ended up getting the turbo, but would have saved about $5000 if I got the black interior V6 XLT.
The retail on a lower displacement engine on a full size may be an issue as others have mentioned. There are some peeps here that have had really good stories of the 3.7L.

I bought a 5.0 mustang that I had to have, and despite the tranny disappointment, it was a great motor. With that said, I traded a 08 4.6 in on it, the current 3.7 v6 makes the same hp as my 08 stang did. Different tunes and purposes, but if you are never going to tow a lot of weight and you want a truck as a daily driver, then you'll save more money on the sticker of a 3.7 as well as on gas...!!!
