Just depends on how loud you want it. The impact on flow will be nearly nothing, but it'll quiet it down a good bit. I like my exhaust louder than most people can bare, even for 10 minutes, so my opinion isn't always the best for that lol.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my previous post but the resonator body is 12" and the total length is 18".

Heres another resonator similar to the stock one. I think it will fit better since its only 3 inches shorter than the intermediate pipe.

12" seems more appropriate. How long is the stock one?

Excuse my ignorance but what does the resonator do
From what I've read it tones down the drone of the exhaust
I got an 09 5.4 liter
I would like a deep rumble no drone
What's my best option?

You're fine. A resonator, from personal experience, reduces high RPM sound, rasp, drone and overall volume. Basically refines the tone.

A Borla ProXS would probably be good for you. Borla has the least drone. Magnaflow has significantly more drone than Borla, but much less than a Flowmaster, or any other chambered muffler. I doubt you would feel the need for an additional resonator with a medium-sized Borla muffler.

i have a 40944 16" 3" si/so and added 3" piping...after 6 months of that i added maggie 13724 a 30" total 24" case round body to act as a res and it made the tone perfect!

I just ran a magnaflow 12770 as a resonator for the diamond eye kit on my 5.0l. It is now exactly what i wanted. Sounds quiet at 45-55 and on the high way at 70-80 reminds me of a stock mustang. Sound is still strong when accelerating, perfect so far for me. Before this around 1500 rpm there was drone that sounded like a helicopter flying close to your house. Not the normal deep annoying drone. This was deep with a wah wah wah sound. I do have the 5 inch tip installed, so don't know how it sounded without the tip. It is perfect now.
