The tuner should have factory tunes on it for the 5.0. It will still need to be updated. Any custom tunes they have on there will not work for your truck at all.

Ok so if i go plug it in today, will i see onscreen prompts to set up my truck? I just want to make sure nothing detrimental will happen if i plug it in. Delete his custome tunes and make my own? Sorry if i sound dumb, i have never messed with SCT!

I would have to ask my buddy at work what all is involved. I think so long as you verify the update, you should be good. Might check with @Franchi. He sells SCT stuff. As well as @Stage3Motorsports

IF he put his truck back to stock OEM tune via program vehicle, restore to stock option, then yes you can use it.

Long as its unmarried, update it to latest specs from SCT, www.sctflash.com and download and install their SCT updater program

Once updated, program vehicle, strategy tune and you can use either the 87, 91 or 93 octane preloaded tunes on it or get your own custom tunes written for it, the X4 can do both.

I will headed over there tomorrow to check it out. Is there a phone number I can call if I have any questions while I'm reprogramming it?
