Default What's the best way to increase fuel economy?

I am looking for ways to bring my fuel economy back up a little bit. My budget as of right now is $650 max. My truck is a 2011 Screw 6.5' bed Ecoboost. 2" HB Level and 275/70R18s. On the highway at 77 mph I average about 16.8 mpg. It used to be around 18 before the level and bigger tires. What would give me the best bang for my buck on increasing my mileage?

I am looking at MBRP Dual exhaust, AFE Stage 1 intake, or maybe a tuner. Not real sure if I want to tune my truck.......yet!

My wife thinks it would be more practical to buy a pistol! LOL.............. but I can't decide on that either, so I am open to sugestions for this as well! I'm looking for a pistol I can carry concealed if I want.

Thanks in advance.

drop speed 7-10mph for better mileage. No mods will give you a substantial increase in mpg when driving at those speeds, tune being the only exception yet still driver dependent

A tune is your best bet as far as mods go. The easiest thing is to slow it down and jack up your tire pressure.

I've seen an increase in MPGs with my Livernois tuner. It can also use more fuel than before if I drive it like I stole it.

Excuse me for sounding obvious, but if you were getting better mileage before the leveling kit and bigger tires, going back to stock would also help.

Biggest affect on fuel mpg is by far how you drive. Primary benefit of a tuner is more power and transmission tuning but secondary benefit from a tune is gas mpg but that as well as stock or tuned, is really affected by how you drive.

Keep it out of boost and as everyone else has stated...it's largely affected by the way you drive and speed.

CCW----I carry a Sig P250c and I love it. But I carry a gun everyday on duty so I don't think it's large in comparison to a Px4 (not recommended..I hate it).

Go in and tell them you are looking at CCW...stick with compact and smaller. And ask them if you can slide them in your pockets. Decide where you want to carry it first, second figure out what you WILL carry comfortably be it a 22 or desert eagle. Good luck.

I also carry a Ruger LCR in .38 spcl +p...It's great for summer carry.

Start using ethanol free gas. When I lived in Kansas, I had a station that was near the lake that sold ethanol free gas and I saw atleast a 2mpg gain.

There have been 74467863284962716 threads about this.

1. Slow down. These trucks get over 30 mpg at 50 mph.
2. Drive like you don't have brakes.
3. Don't idle for extended periods.
4. Use pure gas. It's an easy +1 mpg.
5. Follow other vehicles, at a safe distance, preferably semi's.
6. Ecotune from 5star, or equivalent.
7. Exhaust, maybe, but the gains are minuscule.

A cai WILL NOT improve mileage.
