What would you do - long trip/oil 5.0

You have the exact same truck as me, just white. The button is the lower right on the left side of the steering wheel. It says INFO I think. Just hit it a couple of times to cycle for oil life % remaining or something. Under normal driving conditions, it will not reach 0% until 10,000 miles. Even with moderate towing, mine only removes 10% every 1000 miles.

I'm not sure how you change 8 quarts of oil for $20 unless you are using dino oil and a really crappy filter. If that is the case, you should change it every 3000 miles.

I would change it, for what it costs you'll be at ease on your trip.
I changed mine at 3600km (2200miles) and glad I did, found out about the fuel in the oil, but you don't have to worry it's just the ecoboost engines that do this.

OCD, You have 33% left. This time of the year with warmer weather you would use about 10% for 1K miles. Cold weather and short trips account for the 67% you have used.

I changed my the first time at 5,500 then at 12,500. After that I changed it based on the oil life monitor. When I change the oil I set it to 90% so if I forget it reminds be at 10% (really 20%) and change it then.

I changed mine at 1,000 miles to Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-20 and Motorcraft filter. 2nd change was at 10,000 miles (oil life indicator at 12%) and not a drop was gone.
I'll be changing it every 10k or when the oil indicator runs out, whichever comes first.
