Question What would you do?

Hey guys, looking for input, not really advice, just seeing if anyone else is at this crossroads and what influenced your opinion, changed your mind, whatever.

So, yesterday after a fill-up, I drained my catch can, 2013 EB, and the wife was with me and saw the output.

She asked me, non-sarcastically... "Should we trade this thing off?"

I honestly hadn't thought about it until she brought it up, but hey, since she is suggesting, I should at least check it out...

I like my truck, it gets up and goes when I want it to, it is equipped just the way I want it, I haven't had any problems with the truck to date, other than what I bought the can for, occasionally when getting on it to pass, it would lag then take off like a rocket, after the can install, the lag is almost nil.

I have about 25K on the truck, with dealers looking to move 2014's I can get an identically equipped 5.0 for just a few grand over what my trade would be.

With the can and the updates/fixes that have to be coming at some point from FMC are we over thinking this?

Is it that big of a deal or just ride the wave and see where it takes us?

Its up to you, but already seeing dealers giving low ball offers on trucks since oil has dropped. People are starting to sell just to lose the payments. Up here anyways.

Test drive a 5.0L and see if it would make you happy. The can to me isn't a big deal and you will see it more and more often as more vehicles become DI.

Don't think that by getting a 5.0L (rather than the EcoBoost) that the issue of PCV crud goes away. It doesn't (though it may (?) be slightly less).

In the winter my 5.0L oil catch can routinely collects PCV crud. Though it is substantially reduced in warmer weather.

That's why I don't have a catch can, got a buddy with a 2011 runs like it was new still no catch can.

You are gonna collect that snake oil on other engines too.
