What oil do you use in your Ecoboost?

I always thought Penn YB was junk.
Had a Cavalier a while back and used it. 3k mile later oil smelt burnt and just black as can be. Stopped using it since.

More anti wear additives. Some have posted that it holds up better to fuel dilution better. Who knows though. Lots and lots of turbo gas guys use it on forums and feel safer with the higher weight. No issues for me...yet.

Bought my ecoboost new and drove it like a baby for 5k. Then I put in Royal Purple 5w30 and a Royal Purple oil filter. I've ran this same oil in my race cars and done my own testing, I love it and thats all that matters to me.

Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 because it meets the Honda/Acura HT0-06 spec for turbos
Most oils don't meet this spec.
Oil Specification for Turbocharged Engines
Honda/Acura HTO-06
Main feature is a modified hot-tube test. Purpose:
Evaluate the deposit-forming tendency of an oil after aging. (Testing an oil in fresh condition only is not useful.)
The aging procedure simulates additive consumption and sludge/soot build-up.
1. Moisture & NOx Bubbling
2. Sludge/Soot Simulation
3. Hot Tube
Procedure is available to lubricant and additive companies upon request.
This procedure does not discriminate against high-moly oils. (High-moly oils are not a problem for Honda turbocharger technology.)
This test correlates well with Honda turbocharger testing (bench and real-world).

I hope your being sarcastic. Lots of people have talked bad about that oil.
I realize they may have changed over the years but I have seen motors crusted over with gunk and the owners only ran Pennzoil. I had a 83 skylark that I replaced the valve cover gasket in. When I removed it there was so much buildup it was amazing. The owner changed her oil every 3k with Pennzoil. I think the car had 100k on the odometer.
It's one of those things. Once you have been ruined by something or have had a bad experience, it's hard to change. I'm not saying you guys are dumb for running it, I just don't want to run it in my truck.
