You definately made the right decision. Thats a terrible knock.

Mine had the same knock. Not quite that bad but exactly the same sound. Really got pronounced at 28,000 miles. Good luck. My dealer was very helpful and pretty much acknowledged they had the formality of the Ford required checks but it would end up with a long block.

GM LS based engines had cold start piston slap. I doubt the 5.0 has the same issue.

Took the truck in yesterday and of course it was purring like a kitten. Later that day they took it for a drive and it started knocking. They called the warranty company and got the ok to tear into it. So far they have found some scarring on the cylinder walls. Hopefully they will get authorization to make it right.

Some were not only on cold start. My truck was but I had a friend that hours truck would knock almost every time it was idling.

Some on the Forums are saying 4000 before warranty ends a noise starts and 8000 after warranty ends motor blows.

Motor is out of the truck and sitting in pieces on a table. Scarring and "hot spots" on the #3 cylinder. Mechanic said it looks like the piston was hitting/rubbing excessively on 5-6 spots in the cylinder. Piston showed signs of extreme heatings. Most definitely a short block and maybe a whole new motor as the cam shaft also showed scarring. Warranty company was suppose to send an adjuster today. Hope to get this resolved soon. Driving a '13 Eco on loan. Interesting motor. Quiet but ready to power up at any moment. Gas mileage about the same. Not sure what to do if they put a whole new motor in. Might wait to hear reviews on 2.7 Eco. I drive 80 miles hwy to work each day, 400 miles a week, 30k miles a year, so gas mileage is semi important.

Is this a problem I should be concerned about with my 2013 5.0L?? Or has it been corrected since then?

There should have been warning codes if it was fuel/timing related and not manufacture/machine breakage related.
