Went to dealer today.
Mechanic verified the knock was #4 cyl. Also for some reason thinks flex plate is a problem. Next step is the Ford required checklist stuff. But mechanic said likely a long block. I have a 2012 truck with a late 2011 engine. I'm bummed.
Gotta decide to just trade it or let them dig in. I have great equity and could get into a higher trim truck for about same payment. Or just take a shot and let them go through with it.

Warranty is for only replace. Ford wont pay for any rebuild by any mechanic.

It's official. I'm an ecobooster. Got a loaded app package fx4. Dealer gave $31k trade even using x plan. This one even has the stripper pole. Traded with dealer that diagnosed the knock. I kept my wheels and trail grapplers. Truck looked funny with the stock goodyears and level/ block.
I hate to say this but the 5.0 and 3.73's felt a touch faster wide open than this new one. But the midrange of the Eco feels nice. May leave this one stock for awhile but those trail grapplers would look sweet on this one.

I could be easily upset that I had a knocking motor with 29K. Especially knowing the maintenance I kept on it to prevent things like this. But, for some reason, I wasnt angry. Never considered shopping other brands. They have their share of problems and I like the F150 features, looks, and performance. Plus, I have a great dealer. That is probably the real reason I am not soured.

29,000 miles no tune. Knock getting louder. Low idle speed only. Gotta make trip to dealer. May yank the trail grapplers and stick stock good years back on for visit. Thoughts?
Oil changed every 6,000 miles with motor craft filter. Almost ordered a tuner last month. Glad I held off.

This part isnt true either, we have to rebuild plenty of motors
