Default 5.0 custom tune

I have a ecoboost with MPT tuning and I LOVE the way the gas pedals feel at all ranges. Just bought a family 5.0 with 3.73s and it has zero power unless im over 50% throttle. Is that how the 5.0 will always be or will a tune open it up?

It is drive by wire. A tuner can have it set to hit WOT at 50% throttle if you want. A tune would probably change the throttle tip in, shift strategy, etc. just like the ECO. But the gains will not be nearly as much.

Thanks. I know it wont produce the same power but doing 45mph and being in 6th and trying to pass someone in the 5.0 you almost have to floor it, thing does not like to downshift and would think having 3.73s would help but my eco with 3.31s is way nicer

yea Ive always ran 5stars 93 race tune on my 11 5.0 and I recently got a new to me 12 5.0 and I had forgot how much of a difference there is, I almost feel like my new truck is sick after being used to a tuned truck, but yea you will be impressed with the 5.0s throttle response and high end reving power, but it wont have the low end the ecoboost has...

Dyno Gains on our 93 Performance MPT Custom Tune:
47.9 Horsepower and 44.9 Torque gained at 6K RPM

On top of that, you'll notice improved throttle response and shifting.

A tune will help. I recommend trying a variety of companies in addition to mpt.

Yes I have also ran mpts tune it is a great tune, mpt and the 5 star tune are very similar but the mpt tune does feel a little stronger in the mid range, but I ordered the "chill" shifting on my mpt tune and I wished I would have gotten it firmer, I just like the tire barking in 2 nod, it turns a lot of heads when a super crew 4x4 pulls out and barks the tires when it shifts, I like it...

I have 2 tunes fro my 5.0 from SSI and my truck isn't lacking anything on the bottom now. Its like someone said, its like a new truck the power is awesome. I cant recommend any others as I only have SSI, but am very satisfied with the power and smooth shifting. A good tune will make a difference.
