Well no go for me i tried but my truck is a 2013 with the electronic BOV on the intercooler. With the BOV sticking out so far i didn't have enough space to wiggle the intercooler out.

Thanks Mark.

I think it just threads out like the oil cap does (threads look similar). The whole jug (silencer) assembly and everything.

I wasn't sure and didn't want to chance breaking it.

Thanks Mark.

Very Nice write up.

We have seen similar and more drastic changes from stock to the wagner in our Miami weather.

We have bettered our IAT by nearly 100* from a stock CAC to the Wagner CAC after constant beating on the truck. This happened to us when we were testing for the NMRA Bradenton Event. We had 180*IATs with the factory CAC, that was beyond surprised when we saw it on the datalog. So yes they work. Keep in mind also that we are in Sunny(Hot and Humid) South Florida.

Being one of the highest volume Wagner Intercooler Distributor we have sold and received feedback from a lot of clients who eliminated the condensation issue all together by switching to the Wagner. We have been running the Wagner on TurboPete's Truck for two years without ever so much as a hiccup from it.

I did have a condensation event with my Wagner last June on a rainy day while towing my fifth wheel and it happened twice the same day. I contacted Conrad and he said he had an incident too. It hasn't happened since. He suspected water may have entered through the snorkel. I will say that it is early mud season now and when I changed my air filter this weekend, there was mud in the snorkel.

Well it's been quite some time since I've posted this so I thought I'd provide an update. (shameless bump)

Since my last post in the thread, I've added a few mods including MPT tune. I've taken the truck on several long distance trips pulling about 9k with a trailer and car. A couple trips have been to Vegas where the truck has seen some the hottest temps it's ever been exposed to; well over 100+ on many occasions. It has continued to perform reliably under all conditions, I've been pretty amazed with how well it's done in some pretty harsh towing environments.
I'm approaching 55k and the truck is running super healthy. In fact, on my last oil change the tech came out and said 'whatever you are doing, keep it up because the truck is in fantastic shape.'

For any newcomers that haven't read much about the performance of the OE intercooler, I invite you to take a look at the data in this thread!

One additional note, my first year I owned the truck I experienced one of the CEL events from condensation in the intercooler (you can see some of water that came out in my original post). While there has been some changes over the years and new ideas (weep hole), since installing the aftermarket intercooler I have yet to have had issue with condensation.

Cheers!

What are your thoughts on drilling a pee hole in the wagner?

Not necessary.
I had a Wagner on my 2011 F150 for 37,000 miles. I had two "condensation" incidents one rainy day while towing heavy. Within 1500 miles, it started missing so bad I could hardly tow.
I changed the spark plugs and never had a problem again. The old plugs were garbage and way out of spec. That was at 40k. I changed plugs every 30k after that.
