Use only "Motorcraft Specialty Orange Coolant"
For the 3.5L 3.7L 5.0L and 6.2L
Do not mix with DEXCOOl.
MOTORCRAFT SPECIALTY ORANGE COOLANT
Part Number VC-3-B
Orange Antifreeze/Coolant Concentrated
"Do not mix different colors or types of coolant..."
There is good reason for that^^^

use it or not?

Anymore all of the manufacturers have created their own custom spec coolant. If different kinds of coolant are mixed that aren't compatible they tend to turn into sludge. There was also a big problem for many years with GM engines that used DEXCOOL. The gasket materials were not compatible with the coolant and over time the gaskets would erode and leak.

Hi,
New to the forum, and I realize I am resurrecting an old thread ;-) but have to verify what I already suspect is an issue with the coolant I used.
I have a 2011 F150 6.2L Lariat - and flushed my coolant today. I bought Zerex G05 from Napa, after the sales rep assured me it was the right coolant for my vehicle. Well, it turns out after I flushed / filled, I then saw that G05 is WSS-M97B51-A1 compatible (which I found out is Motorcraft Gold type), and my vehicle had the orange WSS-M97B44-D2 (the Motorcraft Orange type) from the factory.
So now my vehicle has WSS-M97B51 mixed in with the Orange M97B44-D2 (realizing that a "home" flush does not get all the coolant out).
So, tell me the bad news - do I need to get this coolant out of there, and put the Orange back in? Should I take it in to the shop for a complete flush to assure there is none of the Gold-compatible left in the system? How bad of a boo-boo did I make - I have read SO MANY different opinions, facts, and otherwise on this topic that I am literally confused. Some of the sources I read say there is nothing to worry about, others say it is a major issue.
Please tell me what needs to be done, how quickly and what adverse effects I may have with the M97B51 coolant in my F150.
Thanks in advance!

i'm not sure, but I work on a lot of equipment at work, and I have yet to see anything go wrong with putting the wrong coolant in, it has happened (example: people put orange coolant in a CAT which requires CAT coolant) when it comes to how bad it is, it is hearsay for me still. But, that doesn't mean I go around mixing them up myself, I am a perfectionist and always try to do the right thing.
If I was you, I'd dump it ASAP and put the right stuff in, just so I could sleep at night.

When I have flushed systems, I do it over and over until, the water is clear, so nothing remains (including running the heater). So mixing is not an issue. The issue seems to be that Gold is not recommended for your vehicle. I would go back to Napa, get a full refund, buy orange, and reflush.
