Yeah, I guess all those 1500 hp monster trucks and NHRA dragsters have crap for power!

This has got to be the funniest thing I have heard in a long time!

What you see when you are looking down at the Ecoboost are wastegates not BOVs. I've never seen a turbo vehicle with an auto transmission come from the factory with a BOV.They are more common on standard transmission vehicles. However I've seen them on auto trans drag cars with huge turbos. Some people also add them for the sound.

As for not hearing the turbos on an Ecoboost. I bet with a CAI and a free flowing exhaust you would hear them. But most people don't recommend CAIs.

the eco boost has a blow off valve, its set up from the factory to vent back into the intake and that makes it quiet but it does have one..its burried and hard to see..i will try to get a few pics

every turboed gasoline vehicle that i have seen has a blow off valve no mater if its auto or manual...a few examples are the mazdaspeed3 and 6. the mazda cx9. toyota supra, old school nissan 300 and theres a few more im sure...

You are correct in a sense but if you read my previous post i tried to quickly explain the difference from a blow off valve and a bypass valve. Blow off valves vent to atmosphere. no cars come from the factory like that. what the ecoboost has is a bpv, which does almost the same thing but redirects air back to the exhaust. You cannot just swap it out to a blowoff valve without the ecu freaking out and dumping fuel

Wrong answer, that is a wastegate. If you look at the 2nd pic (from below) you can see the wastegategate actuator rod.The arrow points to the threads on the rod, which typically the rod can be shortened to increase boost. But we wouldn't want to do that yet.Without proper tuning, fueling and octane and until Ford loosens up on voiding warranties. However there is an electronic boost controller inside the plastic tube that goes from the turbos to the intercooler that vents back into the intake similar to a BOV.

But aside from Ecoboosts I don't know much about newer tubocharged vehicles.I've replaced every part on and been searching for a BOV on my GN for 23 years and I haven't found one yet.

well thats a new one on me, every turbo vehicle i have had(currently mazdaspeed3) has had a blow off valve. all of them have vented back into the intake from factory...im gonna have to do some more research cause i can definately hear the excess air being released back into the intake on my ecoboost. now if its integrated thats a new one on me...

also i was not saying that the wastegate was the blowoff valve...i knew it had a wastegate as does the mazdaspeed3 i have, but it has to have something to vent the excess air that gets build up when you let off the gas quickly...i have always called them blowoff valves but mazda calls them a bypass valve...there doing the same thing...i have a hks dual port on my mazda which can be set to vent to atmoshere or recirculate

Well the electronic boost controller (in the plastic tube) is basically a bypass valve which dumps back into the intake system.BOVs dump air into the atmosphere. You're not completely wrong because they both dump off excess air/boost after you lift off the throttle and the throttle plate shuts, they just dump it to to different places. My GN has neither, the excess air just bounces back off the turbo compressor wheel.

its called a recirculation valve, I had one on my twinturbo 300zx. Reason it recirculates is so your maf sensor doesnt always have to adjust fuel pressure all the time with all that air venting which would cause a bloggle or rough idle.

Normally they recirculate after the MAF sensor to avoid that issue.
