Default Turbo and BOV

Hey guys quick question. This morning on my way home from work: I'm in 6th gear. About 40-45mph. Coasting RPM reads 1000RPM. I step into it, hear turbo spool. At about 2500RPM, same throttle amount, I hear the BOV running constantly with with the turbo. Is this normal?

Maybe a dumb question, just thought it odd that while the turbo is building the boost, the BOV is dumping at the same time. Thanks.

it limits the amount of boost the turbo can build and can be used to maintain a specific amount of boost. im fairly certain its normal.

Anytime you have the required amount of boost pressure for the task at hand (as determined by the computer's tune and your foot) you are going to blow off the extra pressure. Otherwise the turbos would exponentially (as the engine RPMs rise) keep building boost and something would explode.

Sounds normal to me.

I think you mean waste gate. Terminology Sometimes gets me but the bov let's off pressure after rpm change and the butterfly closing to keep the air flow from reversing. That is, as you can imagine, hell on the turbos!

The waste gate is what controls the amount of boost built.

Yours sounds normal. But you can test it on a hill giving slow throttle.

Hey thanks guys. I talked to a buddy that has the same truck, he tried it under the conditions given, same results. I wonder why I've never noticed it before? Truck runs great, I just want to keep it that way. You guys have been awesome.

Yea in low rpms you'll hear all kinda noise under light throttle and letting off.. spooling, wastegates, etc
