It's pretty simple.
The X3 3000 is custom tune only device, and can hold ten custom tunes.
The SF3 3015 model comes with three preloaded tunes, and can also hold ten custom tunes. If you buy a used tuner, just make sure it's unlocked first
You can mix and match custom tunes from any place that writes tunes using SCT software ( which is most of them, Livernois being the exception for the Ecoboost F150 as they use a different platform )
Getting a custom email tune is very easy, just find where you want the tune from, give them the PCM strategy of the vehicle, any mods done and what type of tune you want ( they will go into detail of what all they offer ) and they then write the tune and email it to you. You then go on SCT website, www.sctflash.com tech tab, and download the free SCT updated program which you install on your computer and then use to load the emailed custom tunes onto the SCT device.
Once you have the device loaded, just plug into the OBII port of truck, program vehicle, then have two options. Strategy tune for the preloaded tunes if it's a 3015 model, or custom tunes if running custom tunes on either the 3015 or 3000, then follow on screen steps form there like turn key on, turn key off.
Trust that helps.

5* tune
I installed the 5* awesome tune yesterday awesome tune. Right off the bat i could tell the turbo's spool up almost instantly. MPG dropped from 17 to 12 around town but what a trade off. I had to merge from a parking lot into traffic i almost lost the rear end you couldn't pry the smile off of my face. I also installed an airraid CAI it uses an oil less filter and the stock airbox to cool. Mike at 5* is quick to answer questions and you will have them i got 4 custom tunes but i am still having trouble loading them into tuner. I went with a preloaded tune but it did not tell me which one it loaded have to play with that some more. Overall i am very satisfied with the tuner.

Im hoping to get a tune for my Eco in the future. But i had a question about tunes on a tuner.
Im probably going to buy a setup from Mike at 5*. It now comes with 5 tunes that will give me a pretty good range.
My question is can i replace one of those 5 tunes from say another company. Say i want to use Mikes tunes for towing, but want to buy a Livernoise 93V2 tune for high performance? Can you plug the tuner in to your home computer and select which tunes you specifically want on the truck?
Or say i want to try a MPT tune, Do they just email me there tunes and i can just load 1 or 2 on my tuner while leaving my 5* tow tunes on it? And still carry 5 tunes with me at all times?
I appreciate any help.
