It was definitely a miss fire. But it has stopped completely now.

Does anyone know why the EB engine burns plugs so quickly? A100,000 mile interval seems to be wishful thinking on Ford's part. Surely they experienced this in their testing.

Weak coils could be the problem. A small gap and fresh electrode edges are compensating for weak voltages.

Boosted engines put additional stress on plugs and coils. Boost can blow out the spark on plugs with too wide of a gap. These plugs are just fine to about 35K miles if the gaps are set at 0.030 or a bit narrower. I can remember the 70's with disgust, my old 70 Mustang with the 428 CJ had to have new plugs about every 5K miles. Either plugs or points would cause misfires after that.

I had a 71 Cougar with 351 Cleveland. It ate plugs and points.

My first wife had a 70 with the inline six, it was even worse than my 428.
