Track launch technique
I want to take my truck to my local track and I was wondering from others who have taken their truck to the track what your launch teqnique is for a good reaction time, ET, ect...
My truck is a 2011 5.0 2wd Scab sbed with stock 18" wheels.
I'm looking for some consitancy in my runs to see how I run now and then after some more mods. Thanks!

The best for consistency would be holding against the brake. Reaction time is just you getting used to the truck and how it reacts. Thats why its important to always start the same way, which ever works best and stick with it, and get good with practice. Flashing the converter will sometimes net a better 60' time but is usually not as consistent.

Drive around the water box, do a small burnout to get the junk off of the tires, take a deep breath and have fun!
Lower air in the tires a little bit, possibly 28 - 30 psi. Street tires always have trouble launching on a drag strip though so best of luck.

Some hints to get you started ..... ( ultimately you'll get your own routine that works/feels best for you ).
* Wash and wax/polish the vehile before going. *Every litter bit helps.
* Lub' any/all lubable pieces. *Front/rear stablizer bar bushings, A-arm pivots, etc.. Suggest using (say) silicone spray.
* 1/4 tank of gas. *As long as there's a station near-by.
* Remove the junk in the trunk. *Including the spare and jack and that 400Lb toolbox.
* Traction Control / Advance Track -OFF-. *If equipped.
* Tow/Haul Mode -ON-.
* Leave the transmission in D(rive).
* All accessories -OFF-. *Radio, heat/defrost, etc..
* Drive around the water box.
* Do a couple of dry hop/chirps to ( somewhat ) clean the tires.
* To launch ... left foot on brake, right foot over gas pedal.
* (assuming a pro' tree) Leave as close as possible @ the last yellow light.
* Lift the brake foot and nail the gas foot. *Depending on the track condition, you may have to experiment here and opt for a ease into and then nail it.
* Before the next lap, raise the hood. *For cool-down purposes.
Repeat.
