Yeah im in the same boat you are, dont planning on rushing to do any mods. Just the window tints, as it is getting brutally hot down here in Florida! I plan on doing 15 or 20% in the front windows and 35% on the windshield.

i wish it was getting hot here, i have about a three foot snow drift blocking my trailer thats about 10 feet long and my trailer tires are frozen in ice!

Here's a post I made a couple of weeks ago on my first towing experience with my new 6.2L. Pulls much better than my 04 5.4L.
I decided to pick up my toy hauler from the dealer today where it's been since November. It's an aluminum frame 32.6' toy hauler, so it's lighter than most trailers the same size. As I pulled it today, I would guess it was about 7000 lbs. The dealer is about 200 miles away (don't ask) so it was a good opportunity to see what my mileage is empty and pulling the trailer. Half of the trip is fairly flat and the other half is very hilly. The truck had 2200 miles on it at the start of the trip. When I bought the truck it had 1600 miles on it.
Unfortunately due to weather conditions the results I got today are not going to be the norm, but I thought I would post them anyway. It was very windy today (15 mph gusting to 23 mph). I had the wind to my back on the way there and a head wind on my return journey pulling the trailer.
When I got there the computer read 15.5 mpg. I filled up and hand calculated 17.8. I know I got it filled up all the way as I topped it off 2 times after it clicked off the first time. This was with the cruise set at 73 the whole way.
Because of the strong head wind coming home pulling the trainer, the mileage sucked. The computer said 7.1 and I hand calculated 6.8. OUCH! The first half of the trip (through the hills), I had the cruise set at 70). When I got to the flat part of the trip, the wind was moving the trailer around so I backed it down to 65. Even though the mileage was bad, my 2004 FX4 5.4L consistently got around 7 pulling this same trailer.
Towing Impressions:
The 6.2L has a lot of power and pulls the trailer with ease. Based on all of the reading I've done I expected a lot more down shifts and higher reving. I locked out 6th gear the entire trip and on flats and moderate hills it would not downshift. On the bigger hills it would down shift to 4th. The tow haul mode works very well keeping the truck in the right gear and not shifting back and forth in the middle of a hill. If it does down shift a gear going up a hill it will keep it in that gear until the top of the hill even if it's reached the cruise control set speed. The only thing I didn't like is a couple of times when the transmission down shifted it was pretty harsh. I plan on asking the dealer about it the next time I take it in. Trans temps were around 200 when pulling the trailer.
While I was very happy with the way my 5.4 pulled the trailer, it's no comparison to the 6.2 (both trucks have 3.73 gears). The engine / transmission combo on my new truck just works together so much better.
Other comments:
- Integrated brake controller works very well and is easy to adjust.
- Back up camera/system makes it easy to get the trailer hooked up.
- Trailer tow mirrors are great!
Overall I'm very happy with the way my new truck tows. Without the windy conditions I had today, I hope I can get between 9 and 10 mpg pulling the trailer. I'll post some updated numbers towing in more normal conditions.

Lol no I meant the anti- sway control feature on the truck but I guess from your answer that the cross wind was not bad enough to engage it.
I have the Reese hitch as well and it is great, I was just curious if there would be negative affects, or positive ones with the two systems working together ( or against each other) that's all.
Thanks again for your reply it's nice to know that these trucks can handle most things you can throw at them( with in reason)?
