Both of my Ecoboosts are fine. One has 23k on it and the other just shy of 12k.
There several here at the job and the only snafu is one had the trans leak, which was fixed and the repairs are good.
Internet message boards are a magnifying glass to the problems of the marque they are about. Look at the ratio of problems here compared to the total number of EB engines in service - there are a lot of people who buy them, drive them, get new ones without the first post on a forum.
If the EB engines were literally falling apart Ford would cancel the series; that doesn't appear to be happening; as far as I can tell, Ford hasn't even done any revisions between the '11 and '12 models, so they are probably doing pretty well.
Just saying....

Seriously... my nephew is a mechanic at a Ford dealer and they see no more problems with EBs than with any other vehicle. Just the average number of issues.

Think about it this way: The people that have problems post, the people that don't, wont post. For example, if all the 5.0 and EB owners who had zero problems started a thread called " My motor/truck/transmission is running fine and I don't have any problems" the forum world would be quite a different place.
By quick informal count there are less than 45( more like 5) discrete owner responses concerning EB power loss/drivability issues, yet all of a sudden its an epidemic and the EB is flawed powerplant waiting to grenade and leave its owner stranded (excuse the melodrama). On a platform that will probably sell 75K units in its first production year in NA. This is not to say that the EB does not have some teething issues, but that happens with Y1 powertrains.

I had the same issue with my truck. Drove it to dealer and they did a software update and now it runs like a rapped ape.
When this issue happened was it raining?
