Default Time to tune the EB- had trouble with a 5.3

Too close for my liking. It wasn't a "race". Simply merging onto the interstate behind a coworker with a new 2015 5.3 ext cab Silverado with a 5.3 and 3.08 gears. He is leveled with stock size tires. I am leveled with 34" Duratracs. We left work at the same time and just so happened to hit the interstate at the same time. He was in front and had roughly a truck length in between us. The onramp has a sharp turn and then is straight and you have to really crowd the throttle to merge. I could not pull on him whatsoever to get to the speed limit. From about 35 mph to 70-75 mph. I honestly thought I would be backing off the gas, but I didn't gain on him. I didn't buy the truck to race-that's what my Mustang is for. And I know my truck is heavier. But it has focused my effort to get a mild tune to correct my speedometer and try and get some pep in the throttle. I have lots of delay, horrible mpg (12.6 right now on an uncorrected speedo) etc. I don't drive the truck really hard and I can get an easy 17mpg in the wifes 2015 Expedition with the same route and driving the same as the truck. The Expedition is noticeably more snappy also. So I have no choice- dealer says truck is normal and my "normal" isn't calibrated to theirs. Looks like I will be reading the gazillion posts on tuners. I have about 9K miles now. And to be honest, the truck with stock tires only had an average of 13.9mpg for 1500 miles and wasn't noticeably quicker than with the Duratracs. I can only assume its in the tune based on how the Expedition runs. The truck runs fine, just honestly seems like it has a trailer attached to it all the time.

Personally love my tune...but others like other companies. I compare tunes to smoking meat. Just about everybody likes their own the best...its all personal preference. What works for one doesn't work for another

And thanks for the feedback. It will get a tune if for no reason other than to correct the speedo and get better response from the go pedal.

There is nothing wrong with getting a tune for the sole purpose of making your truck faster than other people. I don't know why people act apologetic about it.

I was disappointed with my fuel economy and acceleration/power as well after a level and bigger LT tires on my 2014.

when I revert to stock for trips to the dealer, I see about 14mpg highway and it's painfully slow. 5 Star 93 performance/tow netted me mid-15s for fuel economy, no better acceleration really but better shifting. I tried out an SSi 93 gen.6 tune and blew holes in cylinders 1 and 4 the first time I gave it a WOT pull so not much to say about that one but I think my spark plugs being out of spec probably had something to do with that and I should have checked them. since the new engine I've been using a 91 octane MPT towing tune, it's as fast as I need it to be and the fuel economy has been great. I can get 18s easy going 75. my only complaint is that it seems like under just the right amount of partial throttle, the transmission hunts between gears and it feels like it's misfiring/sputtering. but the 5 star did that as well.

Apologizing for getting a tune for speed is like apologizing for trying to get laid. Just do it! You'll feel so much awesomer after you do. But it will leave you thinking what to try next.

Edit: What should be apologizing for is letting a 5.3 ****box get the best of you. j/k

No apologies. I am pretty sure if we were to actually line up bumper to bumper from a stop it wouldn't be the same story. As long as its a boosted launch. In reality I shouldn't be surprised. The new 5.3 is almost even hp wise with the EB so it should be close once the weight is moved from a dead stop and its all hp. I simply want more and have to get it. Another coworker has an older GMC regular cab with the 5.3. The same merge was different. I went to the fast lane and waved at him. Up to 70-75 mph of course.
