I recently purchased a 2011 F 150 3.5 Eccoboost Platinum trim package. When i turn on the climate system i hear a thumping sound that may last 2-10 sec. Has anyone experienced this problem and what is the fix?

Is it just thumping or clicking as well?

Could be one of the blend doors. The gears can strip in them and cause just what you are hearing. Is it under warranty? Only because I think there are a few and as usual, 1 or 2 are easy to access and the other requires the dash to come off.

Thank you for the reply. It is a clicking sound. So the blend door makes sense. It is out of warranty. I will have it checked out though. May have to live with it.

not a fix but on my wifes Flex had the same noise , coming from the blend air door. as long as she never just turned off the fan, left in on fresh air all the time it would not start making the noise. had to turn completely off , then turn on it would make the noise. covered under warranty for me, no more problems.

If you can isolate it to one and it's the easy one to change, I believe the part is under $75. At least it was on my Taurus. But I lucked out and it was right behind the glove box. The others are a Bear to do.
