Thoughts on Royal Purple oil and filter for ecoboost

I know in the diesel world the UOA shows that it does not hold up as well and amsoil and shaeffer which costs less. As expensive as it is I think that there are better options in my opinion.

Although I'd guess that Royal Purple makes fine oils, their popularity seems to have faded of late. Ten years ago it was the flavor of the month.
As the EB takes 5W-30 you have lots of good options out there, including RP if that's your choice.

I ran RP in my 2006 Ranger for 3 years.
I did not put it in the front dif. However, I did put it everywhere else.
It is a good product and worked well.
I would suggest using a heavy duty or extreme duty turbo specific oil. Ask the dealer what they run in the Sterling trucks.

Look for an oil that is HTO-06 approved, that means it meets Acura's strict turbo specs for durability and lack of deposits. Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum & Ultra both meet it in the 5w30 weight.

I ran rp in 2005 f150, it seemed to do a good job, had it for 6 years. Now I have a 2011 and now use mobil 1 full syn. So far with 2 oil changes under the belt. I like it just as much.

Haulin Bass!
No one will know how well RP works in the EB motor until someone gets 75k+ miles on one with RP in it. I know Mobil1 served me well in my wifes old Sunfire. 147k miles all driven with Mobil1 in it. Pulled the valve cover to take a peek and it was spotless in there. Not even discoloration. I was pretty dang impressed.

There's alot of good oils that cost less and will do you a great job.......run an oil for 200K and then you can say whether its done its job or not........I know I'm in the minority......but I;ve run QState in everything i own and I've had no problems at all..............getting close to a million miles on all my Fords combined.....all on Quaker State 5W-30.
