Default For those who want more turbo whistle.......

I have been doing lots of reading on increasing turbo whistle. after much reading I removed the sound shield from under the turbos and i found what i was looking for! It took all of 2 minutes with no tools needed and the results sound awesome. The sound shield does a great job of blocking the sound. I can finally hear the turbos sing. As far as negative effects: I don't see any. The owners manual says to remove it for off road conditions, there for it tells me its only purpose is for EPA noise pollution rules while on road.

side note: Many people have reported that their turbos are louder after reaching the 6-10k mile marker.

My theory: When they had their oil changed (6-10k miles), the tech did not re-install the sound shield and this is the reason for the increase in noise.

Y'all must have better hearing than I do or have never been around turboed vehicles. I pulled mine off and didn't notice a bit of difference in sound.

vehicles i have owned with a turbo/turbos:
2005 srt-4
2002 focus zx3 with aero works turbo kit
1999 ram 2500 with 5.9 Cummins
ecoboost

im not saying that it is as loud as my old cummins with 5" straight pipe. but it is an improvement from where it was with the sound damper shield

I can't imagine this making much of a difference. The only thing that helped my cummins was a bigger turbo lol. I'm missing my 05' more and more.

Each time I change my oil, I leave that cover off for at least 100 miles to make sure I don't have any leaks from the drain plug and I noticed absolutely zero difference in turbo noise with it on or off.

I've been building and tuning 4 digit horsepower Supra's for the past 10+ years and the only way you are going to get a good amount more noise is to turn up the boost or get a bigger snail or snails

Heard that. I ran an s472 with a .80ar housing and 74mm exhaust wheel. That thing sung at 55psi. The ksb-1 was insanely loud. Fun turbo though.

I've had mine on and off the truck for extended periods of time and no difference. I'm very in-tune with the turbos at all times.

Yes but atleast you dont have to keep rebuilding the front end on your F150.

The 3rd gen dodges had better front ends and the 2nd gen dodges are easily fixed.
