there is a difference.

Well torture test or not...ALL engines have there limits when modifying and adding power. Engines can and will fail regardless of size and configuration if pushed.

Default just so happen"s

A true test cell is just that a real simulation of road conditions.I have a few myself and work with some amazing engineers in the business. One has a cell at GM that you can load in a real simulation of pikes peak .We are working on a remote tuning solution now.
Yes most dyno's sold today are only as accurate as the operator .Ours is within .1% with auto load control. If you are interested send an email

To be sure this motor was beat severely before release,Baha,Daytona,it was tore down at sema last year in front of the public at 160k miles of hard driving. This may well be the best piece of american engineering to be released sense the ls1?I am a loyal GM guy and the only other ford I've bought was a new 95 T bird super coupe with a stick.

I understand that they can accurately simulate loads. My question is more about how they simulate cold starts.

I have a question that I can not seem to get an answer from anyone at the dealership. If I purchase a direct replacement air filter (k&n), JUST the filter, what are the odds of a dealership voiding warranty because I didnt get OEM filter?

I realize it may seem silly but i had Nissan try to pull that crap on me and luckily K&N had my back and helped me keep my warranty.

I have the same filter and K&N gaurantees it will not void warranty. The filter package includes a number for the dealer to call should they question it. Also, the dealer cannot void the warranty unless they can prove damage was caused because of a modification.

Finally, Ford and the dealers have deeper pockets then you or I. Take that for what its worth.

why bother? dyno testing of a frontier showed no gains with a K&N over the stock filter (actually showed a 1hp loss but I figure 1hp is statistically irrelevant). As for 'Nissan' trying to void your warranty, my guess is that it was the dealer. Dealers like to play stupid games sometimes and that includes dealers of ALL manufacturers.

The intake and filter systems found on modern vehicles perform very well on their own. The gains you used to find by swapping in 'high flow' filters and intakes just are not as big as they used to be because manufacturers started paying more attention to the stock intake system.

Thanks for the replys, I am a fan of k&n filters am love the fact that they helped me with the Nissan dealership problems so I will be a faithful customer unless the filter is actually worse than OEM like on the Mitsubishi evo viii's BUT... I finally just went up to the dealership and talked with the service manager about it and he informed me that any non OEM filter Air/oil can void your warranty. He said if the oil from the k&n air filters got on the sensors (and I had a problem with nissan) anything from that point on they could void the warranty (pretty much your whole engine from the sound of it).... Granted this is the EXACT same problem I has with Nissan and K&N helped me avoid any further problems I personally will just play it safe with my new truck until warranty runs out.

Please contact your dealership to verify, I am just sharing what I was told. I understand it shouldn't be possible to void your warranty with just replacement filters, but like mentioned above ford has dealer pockets than the average customer

Thanks again for he replys

I think there is no reason to want to squeeze more out of this motor.

Default filters?

If you look back at fords "MO" with Shelby you can see that they copy what is after market very quickly and add it as their own profit center. My 150 came with rain guards, bug shield ,remote start,20" wheels ,wind screen logo and more. These were a salesmen s up sell line"after market turn".When i first sold cars in the early nineties a mini commission was 100 bucks and with after market i could squeeze out an extra buck or two.the minimum is the same but the poor salesmen sell me a 48,000 dollar truck and gets 100 bucks?Thats why i am sure the dealer makes profit so the sale rep is still working when we need him.

The after market mods are evolving all the time.Ebay search this truck and all you'll find is a bug screen.Give it a minute and all kinds of stuff will show up.

Tuning our own cars is all that is left? The american spirit will always shine through.
The tech two is plugged in every car and has a register for hits ,A flash is a hit.The solution is to buy a second pcm and just return the stock before you bring it in for service. You must relised the Ford guy reads these threads so if you modifiy your truck it's all on line?.
What a world
