Is There a Real Fix for Ecoboost Bog Down Due to Moisture Build Up???
My truck now has almost 70,000 miles, been into Ford and had all the TSB's done. Been so pissed at Ford I've switched dealers and will never again go to a particular one.
Truck had been running good for a year or so but I hadn't driven through any serious rain until yesterday. Driving back from Savannah, GA to NW Florida on I-10 I have to slow down from my cruising speed of 80 due to some heavy rain. We probably drive through heavy rain for 15-20 minutes and then the rain lets up and it's time to speed back up. I try to accelerate and the truck bogs down and will barely increase in speed and then it kicks out an engine service light that reads as a misfire on cylinder 1. After a while of driving without rain the problem clears up and I'm able to accelerate back up to 80 and cruise the rest of the way home.
I have an extended warranty and it's still under warranty but costs me a $106 deductible and the inconvenience of not having my truck every time I take it in. This would have been serious on a 2 lane road had I pulled out to pass and it bogged down, luckily I was on the interstate and just stayed in the slow lane until it cleared up. I really would like to get this fixed once and for all. Has Ford come out with a new, better intercooler to fix the problem? Has anybody had this problem and completely eliminated it with a proven fix?

Might want to replace all plugs and #1 coil as well if your plugs are original. Drilling the hole and changing plugs seem s to solve about 90% bog, misfire, hesitation etc issues

Thanks, I started reading the Ecoboost Condensate Drain Hole, Post your results here thread yesterday and I think I'll be drilling the hole this evening. I have changed my plugs, about 15,000 miles ago I replaced them and gapped them at .030. Truck has run great since. Problem only popped up after an extended drive through heavy rain. I've looked at a few videos on YouTube too, amazing how much oil and water is coming out of some.

Since my current Intercooler is in pretty crappy shape I just decided to order a new factory one, $185 shipped to my house. No worries about having to clean out the old dented up one but the new one will get a hole to hopefully prevent any build up.

I've had the same problem in the same part of the country same time of year. I drilled the hole in the CAC and have not had a problem since. I almost think any eb in GA or FL under the same conditions would have misfires but that's just my opinion.

Yep. Drill the hole and change your plugs often.

Love My Eco
I live near Benning Ga i have a 2011 Supercrew FX4 Echo, i don't know and don't want to know if i have an issue with my intercooler, i know a lot of guys have catch cans and drill holes and such, i change my oil every 5grand with full synth mobile one oil. or the stealership does it. use a great oil-filter wix or K and N. Have 53,300 miles on the truck and it does not run bad idle bad or hesitate i do use an SCT programer with stock tune.
Thanks all

The intercooler weep is a MUST HAVE. There is NO other true fix. The entire misfire crap is due to condensate... Drill the hole and no more issue!
