The first question I will have for ford is how will this effect my MPGs and peak power numbers?

Personally, I have not had the issue on my '12 EcoBoost but I figured that's what was happening with the complaints I saw posted.

I would say the next gen EcoBoost will have a water cooled turbo air cooler like on the 6.7 power stroke.

Nice job Ford engineering!

Wow finally got out the computer to see the deflector better than on my phone. Any theory on what that is supposed to do? Looks like it wont really do anything, it doesnt really block the intercooler. Would like to hear how some people think this will stop the condensation.

Looks like it reduces the surface area a bit.

I guess the condensation only comes from the top part of the IC. I only hope ford makes believers out of us.

The top part of the IC is the hot air in. By blocking off air flow it is raising the temperature of the air at the bottom trouble area of the IC. It probably raises the temp enough to get out of the condensation trouble zone for most conditions.
It will mean higher intake temperature in those really hot areas meaning premium fuel or potential power drop to compensate.
If I lived in hot desert areas I would get this done then remove the deflector during summer, living with the reflash alone for hot times.
A remote flap like the Focus grill would be a cool way to do this...
I know even living in the great white north I want all that intercooler during towing.

Talk about a band-aid with a capital B!

This problem is going to get people killed and they expect some kind of air deflector to work from Seattle to Sarasota and from Maine to Mexicali?

I swear it's like adding insult to injury . . .

Exactly! Good luck with that!

I went to my local dealer (the worst) & was told that unless it showed up as an issue on the vehicle's computer they could not do anything. I'm taking it in Wednesday to have them see if it registered on the computer. My truck only had the issue pulling a trailer on the Oregon Coast when it rained on and off.

It's terrible that when they know clearly there is a performance issue they won't take the owner's word. I assume they think I just want to bring in my truck and leave it for awhile because I'm lonely for contact with Ford service writers. This is why people have no loyalty for multinational corporations. People are either simply faceless consumers or a labor resource temporarily necessary to make a profit... at least until sales slow down, or they can open a plant in a 3rd world country... but then... this is a discussion for an "Off Topic Post" & those get me in trouble!
