Jakeman68 you are doing the community a huge service with your inside info and we appreciate that.
However, im just not convinced the problem these guys are having is because of grand intercooler efficiency...... what a crock.
ICs have been front mounted for decades and there has never been these issues. I think the "shudder, studder" problem is more fuel or spark related but i dont experience it at all so thats only an opinion.
Replacing the cat is a start but remember there is reason they are going bad... OVER fueling!!
Either way thanks for keeping everyone informed.

There have been vehicles that make water in the IC. GM had to put new IC's with a water trap on early Pontiac Solstice models, 6.4 Ford diesel would do it, some VW's do it.
This isn't all that strange, or all that new of a problem.

Personally, I have not had the issue on my '12 EcoBoost but I figured that's what was happening with the complaints I saw posted.
I would say the next gen EcoBoost will have a water cooled turbo air cooler like on the 6.7 power stroke.

Don't get too excited people. If there is condensation in our IC which I'm skeptical that that is causing all these issues(which i haven't had) it won't be fixed by software. This IC deflector already comes with our trucks.
Edit: I might have glanced on this deflector.... I believe the deflector that is attached to the IC faced backwards.

Keepin' the lights on!
I would like to say thanks to Jakeman68 for keeping us in the loop.
However, I am disappointed that there will only be a deflector plate instead of a drain or even a new IC with a condensate trap in it. I can't wait to see what this deflector actually looks like. Sounds like this "fix" came from the accountants instead of the engineers. That (probably plastic) delector is a whole lot cheaper to make than new ICs.
I can see the need for a better software update as long as it works and actually can capture codes for longer than 1 key cycle.
I guess we will see. Knock on wood I haven't had the condensation issue yet. I live in the high desert but we do travel all over the US so at some point I'm sure I'd be lucky enough to get it.
Those that get this fix done please post your results!

Ha just picked my truck up today and talked to ford customer care and they said end of the month, lady said she talked to the techs also. Guess i'm calling back tomorrow, lol. Wonder if this is another band aid?

Funny as it sounds, most people who mess around with turbocharged vehicles don't hear much about it. Those people tend drive their vehicles like they stole them, so there isn't much chance of water build up in the IC.
