Taking the plunge but I have a price question
This is my first time posting here. I have decided it's time to give up my 2003 Chevy Avalanche and have fallen in love with the EB F-150. I have located one that has all the options that I want. Its a 2011, F-150, FX4 Ecoboost, Black Exterior, Black Interior. Comes with the moonroof, running boards, 20" wheels, and the FX4 luxury package. The total before discounts is $46515 and there is a $1000 FX4 luxury discount making the MSRP $45515. The dealer's bottom line is $36819 + TTL. Is this a fair deal? I looked on Truecar and it said the average selling price for that truck with those options in my area was $41K. I don't know if it helps but my zip code is 39532 and the vin is

Something I forgot to ask. This truck is just listed as just black on the window sticker that I pulled up. The truck won't arrive at the dealership for another 2 weeks. Is there any chance this truck will come in the tuxedo black? When I look on ford.com and try to build a FX4, tuxedo black isn't an option, but I drove a 2011 tuxedo black FX4 a week ago at a different stealership. Did they stop offering tuxedo black for the FX4's or are all the black FX4's tuxedo?

Five-0 Ret.
N10, it's my understanding that Tuxedo black was discontinued due to problems with the supplier in Japan after the quake. You can use the search in the 2009 - Present forum to find some good threads on this issue. Good luck on the new truck, I know you will enjoy it. BTW, sounds like a great deal from the dealer.

My build sheet gave the full color name on the sheet, Ignot Silver Metallic. If it doesn't say Tuxedo Black, I would be sure and ask if that's what you want. My wife's 2010 Edge is Tuxedo and it said that on the sticker. The three FX4's that my dealer had on their lot in black all said Tuxedo on them as well. I'm not sure where or when the cutoff is or was for the Tuxedo Black supply, but I'd be real sure and ask a lot of questions if you are set on the Tuxedo color.

It won't be Tuxedo Black... it will be Black. I had one ordered and it came out Black... I like the Black better than the Tuxedo Black. The price sounds good to go. But if I were you I would find out what the rebates are for your zip code. The price they're telling you already has the rebates deducted (more than likely). Add the rebates back in and then you'll really see how much they've come down on the price of the truck and you may be able to get more of them. With it being a truck that has never set "tire" on their lot they can go down on the price further than they can on a truck that has been sitting there for 3-4 months... there's a big thread on that (look up Holdback). But the price sounds great even... shoot that quote over to another dealer and see they'll beat it... and if the do send that quote back over to your original dealer. Make them fight for a better price for you... that's your best tool for haggling

Invoice price on that truck is ~$40,900. So it looks like they're selling it to you not too far above the invoice price. You can talk them down more by bouncing quotes between a couple dealerships but by doing that they're not going to do you any favors on the financing side if you wanting to keep the loan with Ford Credit. But you can always take your $1000 and then refinance it. Regardless you're getting a good deal though... take it!
