Synthectic Oil for your Ecoboost

I think everyone is getting too caught up in the base stocks. Yes base stocks are important, but it's the combination of the base stocks with the add pack and overall performance of the oil that matters.
OP is asking about extended intervals. I'm going to add that the during the warranty period, stick to manufacturer OCI. After that, then you can look to longer OCI. ClaySlayer hit the nail on the head with UOA. It doesn't matter what oil you run, UOA has to be done to see how it is holding up. When it all comes down to it TBN is going to dictate the OCI. After warranty is up, pick the oil of your choice, do UOA, and keep driving. Until you reach the end of warranty just keep using an approved oil and keep records of it just in case.

Just had mine changed today and put in Penzoil Platinum 5w-20 with a FRAM Tough Guard filter #10575. I have no fears that my eco will blow up because I put synthetic in it, the factory stuff was jet black and nasty, glad I changed it out at 4400 miles and NOT the 7500 the dealer said I should.

Is it API certified and the correct GF standard? If it meets the ratings you can go for it, but IMO it's overpriced for the Group blend and the additive package.

IM sure there is nothing wrong with Amsoil I have used there gear lube with great success but to the best of my knowledge Amsoil moter oil is not API certified for gasoline engines and therefor could void your warrenty even if changed at the recomended intervals. As per Ford owners manual. Just a thought
