Default Suspected blown Turbo?

My truck seems a little sluggish lately (disclaimer: I moved to a higher alt and it is 100 degrees here). I hooked up a gauge and check it out. Under full load 5-6K with the foot in the peddle I am getting only 13 PSI on my MAP. Blown turbo?

Check all your hose fittings to the turbos and intercooler first off. Check for cracked hoses too. Take a drive to a lower altitude and see where you boost psi is at. Then drive it back and see if things change.

Turbos make their own atmosphere...even at altitude...but getting to Max Boost can and will be slower.

Isn't 13 psi full boost for a stock engine anyway?

Is it? I would have sworn I saw 17 before...

You can with a sct. Just download the software off their website.

Ya, 13 psi is normal.

Stock intercooler is small and it just can't do a good job in 100F weather. Combine that with higher altitude and your truck is going to feel noticeably slower. I think you just need to wait out the heat and it will feel better again.

If you are tuned, sometimes the ECU and transmission don't get a clear reading. Try going back to stock, than reloading your tune. You can also take it to Ford and tell them that it's running weird and they will reflash the truck. Mine took a hard hit last April and never really felt right performance wise. Took it to the dealer because I too thought something was up? Had Ford reflash it. Actually feels better than before.

Didn't even get around to figuring this beast out.. the software said nothing was loaded on the device.

I did however dive under the hood after remembering that an incompetent tech at ford recently worked on my truck. I checked all the connections and everything looked fine.. I cranked the engine and heard a whistle. Turns out, the catch can was wide open (and I know I didn't leave it that way). Closed it up and bingo! 15.5 PSI of boost was the max logged (compared to 12.7 wide open). More importantly I can now hear the BOV again (was pretty quiet before) and it appears normal performance has returned. Beer time.

Also I try to not take my truck to Ford for performance issues since their lead tech thinks a aftermarket CAC can cause a master cylinder to blow out on startup.
