Default Sudden drop in fuel economy on ecoboost

I have 2012 ecoboost with full offroad exhaust and a jms tune. I just added an afe stage 2 intake last weekend. The truck didn't really seem to gain anything from it.

The other day I was goofing around and accidentally put the truck down in manual mode and hit the rev limiter pretty hard while running it out in 1st. I am almost certain it put the truck into limp mode and the bov was dumping boost. After a couple key cycles everything seems fine except my mileage. The truck runs fine with no noises and it still runs strong. But my fuel economy dropped 3mpg. I did get gas at a different station that day which it may be part of it as I definitely see a difference in economy between 87 and 93 octane. But I am just curious as to what could cause this and the truck still be performing fine.

I know this is probably a strange post but it kind of has me baffled. Wanted to see if maybe someone else has had something similar happen.

My fuel economy has dropped, but I believe it is because the weather and winter blend gas.

There is probably nothing wrong w/your truck....just the timing of the weather and gas change over?

I bet it's just that time of year, nothing else.

I didn't notice it last year. And I definitely wouldn't think I would see a 3mpg drop due to a little colder weather or winter blend fuel.

Winter blend and cold temps seem to effect the Ecoboosts quite a bit on mpg's. 2-3 mpg change isn't out of line.

Wow, that really sucks.... It seems like exhaust, intake and tune has done nothing but hurt my mpg.... 11.5mpg sucks

It has been reported repeatedly in the forum that intakes have almost no benefit as Ford already plucked that low hanging fruit. And anything bigger than 3" on an exhaust can reduce low-end torque.
However, last February, I was getting the lowest MPG I've ever experienced (brutal winter), but switched from Gulf 87 to Mobil 93 and gained about 2 mpg, so winter gas, brand of gas and octane can have effects.

Winter gas and cold weather just kills the mpg for the EB. My service writer once told me that Ford published a memo to their service departments a year or so ago that said that up to a 6 mpg drop in the winter should be considered "normal".....

Yep, my salesman warned me about the mpg drop in the winter. He had an EB and claimed 25- 30% drop. But my 5.0 (and any other engine) drops to some degree. I think we are all more sensitive to MPGs since we can conveniently monitor it every time we drive. Shorter trips in the winter will absolutely destroy your MPGs.
