That is without question a stretched timing chain. What is happening is that the computer is sensing the cams are not in sync with the crank and it's going into limp mode. The computer is pulling the timing out, but it can't keep the turbos from lighting. What you hear are the wastegates cycling. In my videos below you can see my sky high boost numbers. In another month or so you'll get a check engine light and code P0016. That code is the timing mismatch. If you shut the engine off and turn it back on it will reset the computer and run like it should. Eventually it'll get to the point where restarting the truck doesn't help because it just goes back into limp. The repair is around $1,500 - assuming they fix it right the first time. Ford tech likes to point fingers at the cam phaser which isn't the problem. This results in them having to tear the engine apart a second time. Total bill for my truck was around $3,500. You can see how loose my chain was in the second video in my signature. Even then, Ford insisted the chain wasn't the problem and replaced the phaser. Thankfully my dealer stood up for me and talked Ford into buying the second repair.

Cord, i'm glad you saw this and added your thoughts. After i talked to the dealer and he told me they found a p0016 code i started digging around and i ended up finding your thread about your similar issues. I was planning on sending you a PM tonight to take a listen to my video. I never would have thought it would be a loose timing chain but after reading what you went through i hope thats right. The dealership did say they want to change the timing chain so i hope that fixes it. I just really hope that they cover it under warranty. I don't want to spend $3500 on this truck. Its actually for sale right now and i wanted to get this all resolved so i can sell it. I've had far too many problems with this thing to keep it once i no longer have warranty.

If you are out of warranty, you will need to contact the FordCustomerService member on this forum. She will get you hooked up with a regional rep and it's with this person that any goodwill warranties will be made. Be kind and be patient. If you are out of warranty, based on my experience, they will not cover the full amount. That said, for having to do nothing, their offer to me was more than fair.

When they change your chain, please try to get comparison photos of the existing vs the new one. I was told that mine was about 1/2" longer, but I wasn't able to see it.

I'm not out of warranty, thats why i'm so mad about this. My extended warranty goes to 120k and i'm at 109. He said theres a good chance they will deny it anyway. The worst part is that Ford won't give an answer yes or no until the truck is torn down and they can see the parts.

Post #8 was the Ford customer service rep. You'll want her in your corner. Did you even respond to her?

I just looked it up on my original invoice.

4 year/ 120,000 KM Premium Care.

I'm at 109,000 KM and under the 4 years and i cant find anything in my contract telling me why it wouldnt be covered. To be fair to the dealer, they havent denied me yet, but he said to be prepared because they might. He didnt really say why other than he has seen it a few times on this same repair.
