SSI TREXjr heavy tow review

That is a ridiculously good write up.... and a significant testament to tuning-ability from what is happening well beyond simply looking at data logs.
JDF - Awesome. It is unreal that you put the EB to the test like you do. It is so fricken cool to know what our powerplants are capable of.
Yup, this tune will be in my truck.
BTW... Look for a name change as this is a new file all together.

Amazing write up! I love how you return to previous tests for comparison. Although the T4 87 Tow was my strongest tow tune, I was not happy with the fuel mileage, so I will be happy to get this new tow tune. And the fact that you have a Wagner CAC like I do just validates my purchase on one almost a year ago.

Here is the pix of the 15,000 lb tow. 10 4x5' round bales and a 6000 lb trailer.

LOL. That is simply ridiculous. Double the weight with better numbers and smooth drivability AND the hard data to back it up. Ummmm, OK - paradigm created!
It will be great to have multiple trucks running the tune and reporting results. I am a couple of weeks out and will have 5-5.5K on a regular basis.
I have to go the CAC route, too. I am really up in the air on which to get..... Don't want to hijack the thread though.

Come on man, that's like comparing bananas to grape fruits. You can't compare E85 to 93 octane especially with towing involved. With E85 he would have been seeing 5mpg or less in the same conditions and probably would not have seen any knock either. If your tuner has your tune at 0 knock and it is only adding timing then that is a very conservative tune and Ford didn't even play it that safe. I see more knock on the stock tune than any of the custom tunes that I have had and when towing it gets even worse. If you are at WOT and you only see 0 knock then the knock sensor is either turned off in the tune or broken as the computer will always be adding or removing timing.

Good write up JDF.
With any tune that is tow or DD I never would want to see knock (more importantly hear knock) and timing is consistently advanced.
None of the publicly released tunes do this. If they do, you haven't logged and informed him of this issue.
