What's the point? Already know the answer: higher speed = lower mpg. There must be 50 threads on here about fuel economy.

I want to do this too, once I get back home (driving in New York in my big truck now). I got a question: my XL truck doesn't have that fancy computer display I saw here in pictures. I can get 'average MPG' and "miles/km to empty" and that's about it... If I go let's say 5 or 10 miles at 60, 65 and so forth, do I have to RESET my 'Average Fuel Mileage' after each run? Thanks!

Truck sees flat Texas highways and has an ARE flat bed cover on it as well as the other options in the signature.

Hey JohnD, isn't that drive a hoot! It truly is a test of what a truck can do. My EB 4X4 NEVER has to down shift on any of it!

Our last trip out we averaged only 14.7 mpg going there, but as you said, wind, grades and, in our case speeds up to 99 mph really chewed the gas up.

We did the trip in early November and because daylight is so precious ( the night brings reduced visability and lots of wildlife), we really whipped that pony!

We drove from Humble, Tx to Bisbee Az in one shot and the truck shrugged it off like it was nothing.
I have a commercial license so I kept the speed to 92 or thereabouts. My wife drove it right on the speed limiter - 99 mph. Overall, the round trip mpg was 17.4 and we're happy with that !

Your mileage wasn't that bad either considering what your truck is capable of !

Something I found out about coefficient of drag...the 2009 Ford F-150 SuperCrew with the 5.5' box had the best cd = .416

I wonder if the same holds true for the new body style in 2011???
