Default Spark Plug Replacement? What is the final verdict???

I know this has been beat to death but I would like to hear from members who have changed out the stock plugs.

What plugs?

What Gap?

Any other considerations?

Stock gapped to .028.

A couple companies are working on a step colder plug but a couple have had failures so I would hold out for a while.

On both my ecoboost trucks, re gapped to .30 with stock plugs and run great. Factory gaps were .32-.38.

There is a video I've seen here from a Ford Tech who says that Ford now recommends .028 to .034, I believe. The 2011 specs were .034 to .037, then revised to .031 to .034, and now this.

I would gap them at the narrow end of the range that Ski listed above. I put just a tiny amount of anti-seize on the threads and use dielectric grease on the boots and around the top of the tube the COP fits down in.

Don't run colder plugs. I tried it and it sucked.

Use the newest Motorcraft plugs gapped 0.30-0.32.

sorry for my ignorance why does this keep changing. Living here in the NE (NB Canada) should I be concerned? My 2012 ECOSCREW seems to be running OK but I'm not engine savvy. Currently I'm at 60K+ Km. I have the ford svc plan. I am holding onto one free check-up in hopes the spark plugs etc; will be changed at the 100K. Thoughts?

You should have seen a trend in these posts that 100K is way off for spark plug changes. At 40K, I had two with the center post gone and the rest were gapped at .040 when the Ford spec was .034-.037. The changing gap spec comes from experience as does a more frequent plug change. Many of the early problems with the F-150 Ecoboost were mostly caused by spark plugs, but Ford and dealers never seem to look there first.
