Default Eco-Bust: Failed Boost

2011 – F150 Eco-Boost with 53,000 miles. The check engine light appeared immediately as I tried to pull onto a freeway pulling a 3000 lbs boat. All of a sudden I had a drastic loss of power followed by a violent shutter. This eco-boost had been slightly shuttering under low RPM high torque loads since the day I bought it, but Ford said that without a warning light they couldn’t do anything. Now the warning light comes on and I’m out of warranty. The dealer – Blue Bonnet Ford in New Braunfels, TX states that all repairs and diagnostic fees will be at my cost.
All of this comes on the heels of a failed power steering system 3 weeks ago. I spent a week fighting with Ford to get them to cover the parts, but it cost me 500 to cover the labor. Now I’m starting all over again. I’m beyond frustrated. My F-350 had an ongoing issue with failed fuel injectors, and now this F150 seems to be another UNRELIABLE truck. Don’t buy a truck based solely on appearance. I really think the Ford trucks are the best looking on the road, but my 4 previous Chevrolets never had a single mechanical issue. That 350 motor is bullet proof.
Why in the world would I buy an extended warrantee? Its Ford tuff and reliable, correct??? NOT!

Get the TSB done and your truck wont have shudder issues. Its not really a mechanical failure. Just condensation in the intercooler causing a miss fire and limp mode.

I had the TSB done and havent had a single issue since. Truck runs 21 mpg on the highway without issue.

Why are you out of warranty at 53,000 miles?

I can understand your fight with the power steering as it's only covered under the bumper-bumper I think. The engine/drivetrain stuff should be covered to 60000 miles, correct?

Plus if you look in the language of the "condensation" TSB's, the coverage falls underneath the emissions coverage which I believe is 100,000 miles?

I regapped my spark plugs to 0.30 and haven't had any issues with power loss. The rest of the truck sucks, but it doesn't shutter anymore.

He said in another post that it was 50k for the 2011's. I find that odd as mine is 60k and I have a 2011.

Basic 3 year / 36,000 miles Free Maintenance N/A Drivetrain 5 year / 60,000 miles Roadside 5 year / 60,000 miles Rust 5 year / Unlimited miles
