And that is the kind of customer service everyone wants. I am so glad I tried out SoCal! I am a believer! I was wrong man was I wrong! I am hooked now.

I have a few jobs in the morning but will try to get it in late tomorrow. Has slowed down in the shop because of vacations, kinda nice to be in relax mode

Sooooo... I haven't read the whole thing but read quite a bit. Does anybody have a dedicated SoCal tow tune that is rated to stock tow rating? And how does it compare to other tow tunes? I tow a lot and for that reason was going to go with 5 star...before reading this thread. I'd prolly want a 91 tow tune and 87/91/93 hot tunes to fool around with and drive around as a daily driver.

I am 6 mos away from actually getting tunes, but I have a bad habit of doing way too much research prior to purchasing something.

I've tried just about all of them. Think no more, do your self a favor and get SoCal. 5 star was the first one I tried cause of towing reasons and all the reviews amd suposably the good customer service. After a couple hundred miles with the 5star tune my pick up started having lack of power issues. I called Mike and his impatience and arragance toward me was quite apparent. Now that was the first thing that I had asked him to change on mu tune. After that conversation I was very aware that we were not going to get that highly annoying drivability issue figured out and I cut my losses with him right after I hung up the phone. Shawn tunes are truly custom tunes and the way he treats you while getting your tunes tailered to your needs and wants is hard to find. Besides all that his tunes are way better than 5 star.

Let me tell you I just got my socks blown oFF! Seen a little of what it had and said I need to go home and collect my s***. I installed my livewire with Shawn's 87 level 5 tune did I say it clearly 87v5... no other tuner comes close to this.... I cant wait till the drive to work tomorrow morning and get a good run. Let someone try to pass me on the Interstate, its on. Lol

sorry for being overly excited but im clearly satisfied with Shawns service and I truly know im in good hands here. Money well spent!

Sorry to say fan boys "there's a new Sheriff in town"

More to come....

I was wondering about this as well. Yeah, I know, I want the cake and eat it too. I probably leave the tow tune in all the time except those few times when I need to prove a point. I don't always tow but when I do it's sometimes on a short notice so no time to swap tunes. I'd probably go with 86 tow (thats right, no 87 here), 89 tow (we have 91 but its iffy), and 91 hawt. I told myself no mods until I have my work project done and some stuff on the house finished but this thread is making that hard to do.

Like savage07, I drank the 5* kool-aid and bought in. Well, the 87tow was good but had some turbo surging (anyone that has towed with a tuned 7.3 stock turbo w/CAI knows that sound) that only got worse with miles. Pretty impressive bottom end though. The 91 tow was way off for my truck. I would get a CEL instantly and the truck ran like ****. Never tried the econo tune he sent. When I contacted 5* the response was "do you want to fix the 91 or the 87"? I was like, WTF, both of course. They only sent the 87 and it was the same way. I tried emailing and calling but I was on the ignore list so I cut ties there.

I had no idea these trucks were capable of so much. Its night and day difference if you think your ford has it now think twice. If your on the fence I say jump! Still amazed!
