Mine had the white in it also around the oil cap last oil change.. not that bad but I also run full synthetic and run 10 mi to work..

Well i switched to full synthetic, i hope that helps until i get the RX catch can.

I had the same gunk in both my Z28 and Forester XT when driving short distances. They both ran on German Castrol, so not sure oil choice will matter much. Luckily none of that in my truck so far.

That is nasty looking stuff in there... I have seen a little moisture in some engines over the years, maybe a bit of crud... but that is just insane amount. I cant imagine what it looks like inside the engine

Correct, synthetic's been in mine both of the past winters and it's still there.

Short trips and cold weather don't help. This what my UPR catch can on my 5.0 looked liked after 2300 miles. That's a ball of ice floating in there. Just shows how much moisture build up occurs from short trips in the cold.

If you're really worried about it, get an oil analysis done.

If you drive short trips only in cold, change oil more frequently.
