Default Should I be concerned?

Last week I purchased a 2013 F-150 STX with the 5.0 engine. It has approximately 24k miles on it. While browsing through these threads I've read where some owners with the 5.0 have experienced serious internal engine problems. Is this a widespread issue or is it mainly certain years that are affected?

You'll find the worst of the worst on the Internet, most people come here to post issues, not to share how great and trouble free their trucks have been. Just enjoy your truck, all engines "could" have issues. Besides, little late now for worrying about it, that's the kind of stuff you research before buying a truck.
If you frequent the forums/problem threads you'll end up being paranoid,
The 5.0 is a solid engine

They can make odd noises and use some oil.just check your oil every 1k miles and you should be ok.

If you're referring to the piston slap, that was mostly the 11's, 12's and very few early 13's for the most part. I have 29k on mine right now and the only thing I hear is the injectors, which is normal.

I have a 13 with the 5.0. I'm at 47,000. Sometimes I think I hear funny engine noises, but that may be more from hearing about problems here and imagining I have that problem. So far I haven't had ny real engine issues.

I have an early 5.0. truck build was in may '11.

never had a single issue with the engine. injector ticking is about the only noise I distinctly recall outside the ROAR when it starts revving.

With all that being said I just had a long block installed 300 miles before my warranty expired. Dealership made it painless. I wouldn't worry, but keep an eye out, or ear for strange knocking and don't hesitate to take it in.
I had cam scoring, crank scoring and cylinder wall (not sure which one) in my 2011 5.0. If I had waited it wouldn't have been covered.
